Minister Famatta Rose Osode is Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Liberia to the United Nations and serves as Administrator of the Mission.

 

During her long tenure at this Mission, Minister Osode has served in numerous capacities including Charge D’Affairs; Representative of Liberia on the United Nations Council for Namibia servings as Vice-Chairman of the Council’s Standing Committee II (Political, Economic, Legal) for seven years. 

 

She represented the Council at numerous conferences, workshops, seminars and missions of consultations in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.  She has been Liberia’s Representative on the Fourth Committee (Decolonization), the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) and is currently Liberia’s Representative on the First Committee (Disarmament and International Security).  Minister Osode is integrally involved in the day-to-day operations of the Mission.

Minister Counselor Edwin F. Sele serves as the focal point officer for UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF as well as Non-Aligned Movement, African Union, Least Developed Countries and the Group of 77 and China at the United Nations. 

 

He is charged with drafting and negotiating with Member States of the United Nations various General Assembly resolutions concerning the reconstruction and development of Liberia.

 

Minister Counselor Sele is the Liberian Mission’s Financial Officer.

Minister Counselor James Z. Eesiah serves as Press Counselor and is responsible for media affairs at the Liberian Mission.  He represents the Mission on the United Nation’s Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization Issues).

 

Minister Counselor Eesiah handles Security Council matters including sanctions and resolutions impacting  Liberia.

Counselor Comfort O. Swengbe covers the Third Committee which deals with Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues. 

 

She has represented the Government of Liberia at several international conferences held in New York particularly the Commission of Human Rights, Committee on Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Convention on the Advancement of Women.

           The Administrative Staff

 

 
 

Maggie Gibson-Glay, Executive Secretary to the Ambassador, is responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the office of the Permanent Representative.

 

Her responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining and coordinating the daily schedule of the Ambassador,  creating an enabling environment for the smooth interaction of the office of the Ambassador with other Missions and liaising for delegates from Liberia attending conferences at the United Nations.

Kawyienee Karl Andrews, Administrative Assistant, is responsible for general   administration of the Liberian Mission insuring that the Human Resource requirements are efficiently managed.  His responsibilities include event planning at the Mission as well as coordinating with Monrovia for participation in major events at the United Nations.

Sam Z. Horace, Document Clerk, controls the central filing and distribution system within the Mission’s Document Room.  He is responsible for receiving and dispatching United Nations documents on a daily basis from the Distribution Center and dispatching all communications emanating from the Permanent Mission.
